Picture this: late afternoon, bathed in light. A woman places her bare toes on the warm white sand. Led by Nottingham actor/singer songwriter Phil Smeeton, Magic Car release Meteorites, their third album for Tiny Dog. In it, Smeeton effortlessly blends a myriad of tales - faded pool-hall stars, the mafia, summer road-trips and a dominatrix are interwoven with reflections on growing up, lost love and infidelity. As a songwriter, he is the real deal, a fact that has not gone un-noticed by such leading lights as BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris and the cult Americana press. In Magic Car, Smeeton is aided by the extraordinary, haunting and emotive voice of Hazel Atkinson. The band is completed by Martyn West on guitar, Doug Ebling on drums, and bass-playing producer John Thompson. Meteorites plays on a beat jukebox in a dusty bar...welcome home, welcome to Fritz's Beach.
