Max Graef & Glenn Astro's "The Yard Work Simulator" LP receives remix treatment from an all-star cast of new beat makers. First up however, it's our skewiff house heroes Max and Glenn, dubbing up "W313D" into a heads down but forward propelled dusty house squelcher, reminiscent of TOM Project's "Renaissance" but with added lysergic flurries and an extra dimension of beatific destruction; with the pair really letting loose on the time-synched delays in a proper dub stylee. Label cohort IMYRMiND remixes "China" and turns out a futuristic and stylish groover, with lazer guided melodies, lashings of big neon synthesizers and rickety beats that compliment the palette beautifully. Wild Oats player and one of the new faces of Detroit, Byron The Aquarius lets loose on "Magic Johnson", providing a fitting dark rendition of the track with moody keys, Motor City rhythms and intricate synth work. Finally, Apron mainstay and LIES affiliate Greg Beato smashes out a banging remix of "Money $ex Theme"; his take no prisoners drum beats, thickly saturated mix and unrelenting synth swirls fitting nicely alongside other new night club demolition men such as J. Albert, Mall Grab, Person Of Interest etc. Killer 12” housed in a 400gsm white popset sleeve. Illustration by Rahel S??kind.. Essential listening for fans of warped jazz and machine funk.
