Four years after the release of their ‘Everything Touching’ debut, Tall Ships have announced their second album. ‘Impressions’ is due next February (make that five years between albums, then) via the band’s new home of FatCat. It saw them knuckle-down in keyboardist Jamie Fields’ Devon home once more - “We recorded and engineered it all. The DIY nature of it is one of necessity, not aesthetic,” he explains. Those years in darkness have fed into the album too, bassist Matt Parker says. “If someone had just come to us and given us the money to make a second album right away, it would’ve been completely different. It’s a product of everything that’s happened over the past four years.”
