"When will it be heavy again, as heavy as it once was?". With "Hyperglaive", MEGA COLOSSUS delivers a classic, sparkling, dynamic heavy metal album. Well, it sounds like SLOUGH FEG, but sometimes also after guitar melody masters like WISHBONE ASH or early IRON MAIDEN; But above all after SLOUGH FEG. And that's good! Now, however, we are not dealing with simple copyists here. On the other hand, the MEGA COLOSSUS adds a classic epic as well as its own component, which is equally based on three points, namely traditional (hard) rock, early heavy metal, and refreshingly unpredictable upheavals in rhythm and melody. With all tradition consciousness, the music on "Hyperglaive" does not therefore risk for a moment to become a decal cover or comic version of itself. In the face of clich?able texts such as 'Sunsword' one might have feared this; But the play captures the listener from the beginning, and on his ride against dark reigns. It keeps the balance between classic Heavysound and melodic Power Metal. "Sea Of Stars" is more epic, 'Gods And Demons' more aggressive and phase-wise almost speedy, 'The Judge' as the most powerful and powerful piece of the album, 'Betta Masta' unfortunately somewhat shrilly and rough The Worm 'is a highly melodic and appealingly dynamic work; And in 'You Died' I think I have a slight OVERKILL influence in the groove, which the band has also changed well. 'Star Wranglers' then packs the great SLOUGH FEG references again. Of course you could criticize the fact that the songs differ from one another in terms of mood, but here is the finest craftsmanship with enough short duration to keep the strong level over the full album length. Thus, "Hyperglaive" also comes out of its solid high quality once again outstanding overhit. Although MEGA COLOSSUS is not the future of the Heavy Metal, it offers an above-average sound for the presence of the genre.
