It was five months before his debut album Radio hit the shelves. Is was less than a year before he celebrated his 18th birthday. And it was possibly the first ever hip-hop performance in the state of Maine. A baby-faced LL Cool J visited Colby College in Maine in 1985 and introduced hip hop to a state that knew little of it. LL broke down all four aspects of hip hop culture to the sparse crowd in attendance: emceeing, DJing, breakdancing and graffiti.
