Sixties on Steroids": Modern mix of stoner, grunge and punk with roots in the sixties. The Dutch psychedelic rock trio Birth Of Joy has played 450 concerts over the past three years, 172 in 2016 alone, including festivals such as The Great Ecape (UK), Bobital (FR), Montreux Jazz (CH), Pinkpop (NL) and the Orange Blossom Special in the small town of Beverungen in East Westphalia, where their label Glitterhouse is also based. That's where "Hyper Focus", the fifth album by Kevin Stunnenberg, Bob Hogenelst and Gertjan Gutman, comes out. It is a nasty, loud and rebellious work that will please not only friends of All Them Witches, Kadavar, Blues Pills, Motorpsycho or King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Although "Hyper Focus" is again strongly influenced by bluesrock and psychedelic sounds of the sixties and seventies, the trio fortunately manages not to sound like a retro copy. Instead, the Dutch surprise with a modern mix of stoner, grunge and punk, which the "WDR Rockpalast" described as "timelessly brute and stirring". The band opens the drawer "Sixties on Steroids"for their sound.
