"Feral Hymns" captures Boysetsfire's epic perfectly, combining it with a very personal touch of the singer, thus forming the quintessence of Gray's previous work. With acoustic guitar and tight strings, the Posthardcore icon creates a hitherto unimagined intimacy and atmosphere, all carried by his unique voice, which has already influenced countless fans on their way through life. The songs are also outstanding, in which the acoustic guitar is overlaid by a softly electrified second guitar - a kind of playing that inevitably reminds us of Billy Bragg and thus quotes another important reference. All twelve songs were recorded and mixed by Bouncing Souls guitarist Pete Steinkopf at Little Eden Studio, the band's home studio, where Dave Hause and Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem) began their (solo) careers under Pete's watchful eye.
