The legendary Quatuor Mosaiques celebrates its 30th anniversary with a recording of Beethoven's last string quartets. The Viennese Quatuor Mosaiques has already presented award-winning reference recordings (Gramophone, Diapason, Classica, etc.) by the masters of string quartet repertoire: Haydn, Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven. After a long break, a new recording has now been made: Erich H?barth, Andrea Bischof, Anita Mitterer and Christophe Coin record this new recording in which they record their interpretations of Beethoven's last five quartets. The monumental Great Fugue, which the Quatuor Mosaiques calls "enigmatic in its wild perfection", stands separately as the sixth part. Beethoven's late string quartets are extraordinary in many respects: metaphysical masterpieces that express almost every nuance of human emotion, contain groundbreaking compositional innovations and thus form a unique conglomeration within the history of music. The Quatuor Mosaiques, playing on historical instruments, impresses once again with its perfectly balanced interpretation, which is balanced between clarity, precision and rich tonal richness.
