Tuomas A. Turunen has become the focus of many jazz lovers due to his decisive role in the Emil Brandqvist Trio, currently one of Europe's most successful piano trios. The acclaimed trio was able to celebrate an ECHO JAZZ nomination with their penultimate album "Seascapes", for example, and the current album "Falling Crystals" was placed on position No. 7 of the German Jazz Charts. The Finnish pianist appeared on both albums not only as a soloist but also as a composer. His teachers during his training in Gothenburg included the renowned Anders Jormin. In 2010 he was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival piano competition. In autumn 2017, the Finn, who currently lives in southern France, withdrew to the famous ARTE SUONO studio in Udine to record a solo album with the legendary sound engineer Stefano Amerio, which undoubtedly contains his most personal recordings to date. In the pieces "I Held Her Hand And Said Goodbye" and "Sun-Run" he poured borderline experiences such as the death of a person close to him or the birth of his first son into a world of sound that breathes poetry, emotion and virtuosity. Tuomas A. Turunen allows the question of whether this is more jazz, classical music or a crossover of many styles that characterize his musical work. One thing is for sure: he makes music that touches, sometimes in almost classical dress like in "Preludi", then again in jazzy clay dress, when he reviews the rapid years of his musical development in "The Years".
