"Klezmer for Peace" is another project by Giora Feidman with a clear message. The maestro gathers musicians from Turkey and Israel around him and once again overcomes the borders of nationalities, religions and generations with his music. In search of ways to present his music in a previously unheard garb, Giora Feidman came across a long-time musical companion. The Turkish musician and music ethnologist Murat Co?kun, one of the world's most renowned frame drummers, brought two colleagues from his immediate environment to the first rehearsals. Together with G?rkan Balkan on guitar and oud and Muhittin Kemal Temel on Turkish zither, Feidman with his clarinet and Israeli musicians Hila Ofek on harp and Andre Tsirlin on saxophone contrasted the music of Klezmorin. In order to merge the music of six soloists of such different origins into a harmonious whole, the artists brought in their own ideas and musical roots and an understanding of the musical worlds of others developed through communication among themselves. Murat Co?kun, Muhittin Kemal Temel and G?rkan Balkan are not only virtuosos on their instruments, but also masters in the unique art of playing and expressing the soul of Turkish music.
