Louis Hayes, one of the great percussionists of the Hard Bob style, introduced himself to the Hamburg audience in 1976 together with his co-leader, the tenor saxophonist Junior Cook, at a concert in the Uncle P?. Louis was known for his collaboration with the Cannonball Adderley Qunitet, Cook played with Horace Silver. Woody Shaw is with him. The trumpeter turns 32 in the year of this recording and is already in the middle of a career that will make him one of the most important (and much too early silenced!) voices in contemporary jazz.
