Faustus are Paul Sartin and Benji Kirkpatrick (Bellowhead) and Saul Rose (Waterson/Carthy). Their third album Death and Other Animals was released in November 2016, highly acclaimed by the English press and awarded the German Record Critics' Prize in Germany. "Cotton Lords-Songs of the Lancashire Cotton Famine" seamlessly follows on from its predecessor. After all, the band members still had unrestricted access to the Folk Centre's extensive library - quasi as "Artist in Residence". Supported by the BBC, they worked their way through the documents and texts on the cotton shortage in the middle of the 19th century. Five of these texts can now be found on "Cotton Lords-Songs of the Lancashire Cotton Famine", the booklet contains an extensive documentation on globalisation in the 19th century - with its winners and losers.
