Dark Star Safari, a newly formed group with Samuel Rohrer, Jan Bang, Erik Honor? and Eivind Aarset, presents their eponymous record debut, an impressive song-driven album. These songs conjure up shadows of memory, clouds of dreams and silhouettes of premonitions through the layered, multi-layered material of the album. Dark Star Safari is the work of four related spirits, their open approach and a remarkably networked creative nervous system. The key to their collaboration is an organic freedom that allows the music to "fill in" itself, to realize itself through the musicians as a medium. The music of the 10 songs was created in a two-stage process: a first phase of free flowing open improvisation and a subsequent exploration phase, in which hidden potentials were discovered and promoted. The album's music is based on a session initiated by Samuel Rohrer, who invited Jan Bang and Eivind Aarset to the renowned Candy Bomber Studio in Berlin. The work was performed under the imaginative craftsmanship of sound engineer Ingo Krauss, who worked in the famous Conny Plank Studio
