An extraordinary album and a virtually mind-expanding sound experience. Two years after his big success "Persona" from 2018, London electro musician and producer Rival Consoles finally returns with the all around convincing "Articulation". The album was created as a conceptual experiment that aims to explore the extent to which visualised structures can be musically realised and made audible. During the writing process, Ryan Lee West (aka Rival Consoles) drew concrete forms and patterns by hand in an attempt to give the process of creating electronic music a basic structure that can be experienced haptically and is completely detached from the computer. The title of the album was chosen to match this, which refers to a piece by contemporary avant-garde composer Gy?rgi Ligeti, because it has a very unusual graphic score. The idea of using analogue drawings and tools to develop digital creations is clearly audible: on "Articulation", brooding techno numbers, nostalgic ambient meditation, pulsating soundscapes evoke somnambulistic moods. The drawing becomes sound and rhythm and this becomes free flowing energy.
