Limited to 500 pieces - The award-winning Viennese clarinettist, saxophonist and composer Ulrich Drechsler is a wanderer between musical worlds. His duets with the pianists Tord Gustavsen or Stefano Battaglia, his cello quartet, the acoustic hip-hop trio "Caf? Drechsler", film music and much more are just a few examples of his successful international work in recent years. Now he presents with his new opus magnum "Liminal Zone" a whole musical universe. In three independent projects, the so-called Scopes, with three instrumentations and three programmes, he processes the influences that have shaped him most in recent years: above all neo-classicism, Scandinavian minimalism, British trip-hop & ambient and film music. The result is a fantastically beautiful music that consciously defies categorization. A unique balance of harmonic and melodic harmonies and consciously set idiosyncrasies, which are reflected in timbres, rhythms, melodies and atmospheres. "Caramel", the first part of this trilogy, is released on the jazz label Enja, the strictly limited LP on monkey.
