Future Ruins, the debut album of Tom And His Computer, which was created in two years of work and co-mixed and co-produced by Trentem?ller, will be released on Trentem?ller's In My Room label on October 16. As a veteran of the Copenhagen music scene, Thomas Bertelsen has been releasing music under the name TOM And His Computer for five years, fusing the latest technologies with the old ones while squeezing fresh sounds out of devices that are not only outdated, but sometimes barely work at all. "I switch back and forth between the digital and the analog world. I use both old guitar pedals and the latest software. But it's never about the equipment, it's more about finding that one special sound that can trigger an idea for an entire track. Future Ruins was co-produced and mixed by Trentem?ller. While earlier songs took listeners to the outer limits of what can be called "electronic music", including excursions into dark wave, dream pop, kraut rock and modern psych rock, Future Ruins presents these influences in a new way and represents a big leap forward for TOM. The result is a genreless collection of songs that demonstrates TOM's obsession with driving sounds from the past into the present and future by combining noise and nervousness with his "commitment to fresh ideas with a clear sense of melody" (Clash Magazine).
