Burnt Belief's eponymously titled debut album was originally released to co-incide with December 2012's much publicised "End of the World" as prophesied by the Mayan calendar. "Burnt Belief" takes listeners on an immersive sonic journey, exploring themes of fanaticism, intellect and fundamentalism, and highlighting the "Cognitive Dissonance" of religious beliefs and the resulting gap between belief and reality. Edwin and Durant's distinctive voices on guitars and fretless bass respectively, meld electronic rhythms with varied and enticing acoustic elements, assisted by hand drummer Jerry Leake, who tastefully adds a heady mix of ethnic percussion to the proceedings.
