First released in 1989, 'Amandla' is the third collaboration between Miles Davis and producer / bassist Marcus Miller, after 'Tutu' (1986) and 'Music from Siesta' (1987), and their final album together. Mixing elements of funk and jazz, and combining electronic instruments with live musicians, the line up boasts Miles's new altoist Kenny Garrett, as well as various guests (including Marcus Miller, guitarist Jean-Paul Bourelly, Joey DeFrancesco on keyboards, Rick Margitza on tenor, pianist Joe Sample, and bassist Foley) who get their chances to play next to the great legend who is in top form.
