Based in Austria, Matt Boroff’s latest song, ‘What A Shame’, the first track from his new album, ‘Grand Delusion’, is a hard rocking track which reminds us somewhat of Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Accompanied by a stark and very simple yet fun video by Matt and Karin Bleiweiss (we variously see long shots of Matt, then focus on his guitar playing – before seeing Matt in triptych during the chorus), ‘What A Shame’ should definitely appeal to hard rock fans. Originally from the US, Matt relocated to Austria in 2000, after beginning his musical career in the 1990s, which saw him perform his own brand of experimental rock across Northeast America, as well as solo gigs in New York City. He released his second LP, ‘Sweet Hand Of Fate’, in 2014, which features a guest appearance on the track, ‘Garbage Man’, by former Queens Of The Stone Age member, Mark Lanegan. Mark is back lending his distinctive baritone to Matt’s latest album, ‘Grand Delusion’, which also features fellow QOTSA alumnus, Alain Johannes, as well as Jack Irons (Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chilli Peppers). Recorded at 11AD Studio in Los Angeles, the final result is an organic, multi-faceted album, which even Matt might have been surprised at.
