Although Eero Raittinen was mostly known as a pop singer in the 1960s and then rose to brief international fame as the lead vocalist of Tasavallan Presidentti, his 1970 solo outing is a more down to earth affair. Recorded with a superstar lineup (Jukka Tolonen, Paroni Paakkunainen, Vesa Aaltonen, Eero Koivistoinen...), Eeron Elpee was a more personal thing for Raittinen. Owing a lot to the British R&B movement of the sixties, Eeron Elpee moves smoothly between more standard blues and moody jazz arrangements. Commercially the album was a failure, as people wanted pop hits from Raittinen. But as a cult item the album's worth has only grown during the past five decades, and Svart Records are happy to bring it back on vinyl. Never before reissued, this authorised release features a new interview with Raittinen.
