In 1959, former boxing Champion Jack Dupr?e bid his farewell to the US and settled in Europe where he toured and recorded constantly. One of the highlights in Dupr?e’s career was his appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1971. His live shows were a mixture of barrelhouse blues and boogie, stories and jokes changing with very emotional, often autobiographical slow blues tunes. This Rockpalast DVD presents all facets of this great barrelhouse piano player and singer. It is fun to watch, offers musical pleasures and makes you realize that there are hardly any true characters left in the blues who would dare asking for another beer in a TV studio. In 1992, the Champ lost his last fight against cancer in his adopted hometown of Hanover.
