2016 saw LA bluesmith Hanni El Khatib embarking on a project that would challenge him to explore genres outside of the blues vein. What we got was Savage Times, a collection of 3-song volumes over the course of the year. Hanni’s put the finishing touches on this sprawling adventure just recently and, to commemorate the journey, he’s decided to compile all of it into a 10? box set. You’ll hear stabs at vintage garage rock, soul and r&b, singer/songwriter ballads, minimal blues and even hip hop. No specific quantity of box sets have been announced, but I wouldn’t wait too long if you really want this thing. Some of his albums go for $200+ on the secondary market.
