The enthusiasm of the country pop singer for Texas' rich musical culture, from the stage to the studio up to the dance floor, inspired this project, a kind of love letter to the Lone Star State. Her new EP "South Texas Suite" is nostalgic, deeply romantic, and defiantly personal - it's Texas, through Whitney's eyes and ears. After the release of her album Heartbreaker of the year, Rose grabbed her boots collection and went south to play a two-month residency in Austin's famous Americana Bastion, the Continental Club. She toured with Sam Outlaw, made her European debut and signed with Thirty Tigers / Six Shooter Records. It was recorded in Dale Watson Ameripolitan Studios in North Austin, accompanied by Grammy winner Redd Volkaert, the former guitarist of Merle Haggard; Earl Poole Ball, who played two decades Keys for Johnny Cash; Kevin Smith, plays bass in Willie Nelson's Family Band; And Tom Lewis, who drums among other things with the Mavericks. All four play in Haybale !, The Continental Club's Sunday night stalwig; Lewis also plays in Rose's band, along with guitarist Bryce Clark, steel player James Shelton, and acoustic guitarist Sophia Johnson. They are also on the EP, together with Geiger Erik Hokkanen and accordionist Michael Guerra.
