It's hard to believe, but "My Song" is the 12th album by Sophie Zelmani. And it quickly becomes clear: she has remained true to herself. Sophie's songs are both a textual and musical poem. They still spontaneously arise from the belly. So also the title track, "My Song", which they write on a taxi ride in August, in Chongqing, the largest city in the world. Listening to the album, one quickly realizes that this intimate expression and subtle production can only come from Sophie Zelmani. Of course not, without forgetting her long-term producer Lars Halapi. Well before other musicians were involved, they played every song acoustically, they began to awaken, change, reject and re-arrange them. On "My Song" the production is more extensive than ever before - even if it is not directly noticed at the first listening, new variations and levels can be discovered gradually. In addition to Tomas Axelsson (bass) and Peter Korhonen (drums), who have always collaborated with Sophie, "My Song" also includes the Stockholm Session Strings and the saxophonist Per Texas Johansson. This very special album owes its name to a boat from the 1930s. Sophie Zelmani stood on a bridge, saw this old beauty slipping under her feet and found that she was named "My Song". In doing so, she became aware that everything she writes, similar to Van Morrison or Leonard Cohen, is part of a larger song that tries to describe and capture certain feelings and stories
