The Bogenhauser K?nstlerkapelle (1899-1939) played on historical instruments 50 years before the establishment of the historical performance practice - not from academic interest, but solely from curiosity and joy of playing. Their exceptional repertoire therefore included Bavarian folk music and morality, as well as Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic works. The recording presented here includes a cross section of the varied, varied repertoire obtained in the original vocalists: detached from scientific criteria, the Bogenhausers were concerned about all the genre boundaries with all their interest. Thus, e.g. Chopin's mourning and minuets of Mozart and Bizet, alongside Bach's Actus Tragicus, compositions by Rameau, Corelli, and Arcadelt, alongside folkloric dances and Frank Wedekind's aunts. The result is a unique document of the pioneering role played by the almost forgotten Bogenhauser artists' chapel, which still impresses with its refreshing surprises beyond the familiar sound pictures of the Old Music. The ensemble arcimboldo, in its original form, makes the re-discovery of this "ancient music" avant-garde sound.
