Talisman is another, in the VERY long list of exceptional bands that the one-and-only Jeff Scott Soto was involved with. I can't imagine how this guy isn't a household name like Bon Jovi or Ronnie James Dio, but I guess sometimes the best things in life aren't well known. "Genesis" is the second offering from Swedish/American band Talisman. The album was released in 1993, three years after their debut. This album is along the same lines as the debut, however, the production seems just a tad different with this outing. That's an awfully minor complaint about an awesome record, but their debut kicked so much tail, it's noteworthy to me. This album is just packed to the gills with amazing melodic rock tunes. Songs like "If U Would Only Be My Friend" and "Mysterious" are highlights for me, but every other track could be a highlight as well. Listening to this album makes me remember why I love this kind of music, and why JSS should be talked about as one of the best ever. If you like melodic rock music in any capacity, this album is a sure-fire winner! There's nothing that people shouldn't like on this disc, and this should make you wanna track down their other records as well. Go buy them all I say. They are all great in their own right.
