A year after exploring the work of the Brazilian legend Chico Buarque on "Samba de Chico", Latin Grammy and echo jazz winner Hamilton de Holanda returns with a new album, dedicated to a grandmaster of the Musica Popular Brasileira Is: "Casa de Bituca". Because Bituca is the nickname of anybody in Brazil, Milton Nascimento, a world-famous singer and songwriter of the extra class who will celebrate his 75th birthday in October 2017. Milton Nascimento celebrated his breakthrough in Brazil in 1967 with his nameless debut album (later called "Travessia"), which he recorded with the Tamba Trio under the direction of Luiz E?a. The songwriting and Milton's singing vocals opened up a new world to the music scene of Brazil, which was in a kind of post-Bossa Nova depression, similar to the tropicalists around Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. The sometimes gloomy seriousness of Milton's songs and the urgency of his singing also reflected the sentiment of life at a time when military dictatorship was increasingly rigorous and brutal in the lives of the Brazilians. The uniqueness of Milton's style soon attracted attention to the jazz scene of North America, which was particularly hungry for new ideas. In 1969, Creed Taylor's "Courage" was released, accompanied by stars such as Herbie Hancock and Hubert Laws Milton. In 1974, Wayne Shorter invited him to his album "Native Dancer", followed by collaborations with, among others. Paul Simon, Sarah Vaughan and Earth, Wind & Fire, but also Latin superstars such as Mercedes Sosa and Leon Gieco. In 1993 he even took the vocal part on the song "Breath After Breath" by the British pop band Duran Duran. On his album "Angelus" (1994), among others, Jazz greats like Pat Metheny, Ron Carter and Herbie Hancock, as well as pop singer like James Taylor, Peter Gabriel and Jon Anderson. To this day he has published 40 albums. Hamilton de Holanda was born in 1976 in Rio de Janeiro. His instrument is the Bandolim, a ten-string mandolin, which is mainly used in Brazilian choro music. As an accompanist, he has worked with Brazilian stars such as Maria Bethania, Djavan or Yamandu Costa since the 2000s, but also international stars such as Cesaria Evora, Stefano Bollani and Richard Galliano. He released his first album under his own name in 2002, and many more followed in the most diverse settings (all alone, duets or larger occupations). The Hamilton de Holanda Quinteto, consisting of Hamilton de Holanda (bandolim), Andr? Vasconcelos (bass), Gabriel Grossi (harmonica), M?rcio Bahia (drums) and Daniel Santiago (guitar) "(2006)," Brasilianos 2 "(2008) and" Brasilianos 3 "(2011). In June 2016 they met again in the studio, to celebrate the tenth anniversary, to produce videos and to develop new repertoire. This led to the idea of ??"Casa de Bituca". Within two days, the arrangements were sampled and recorded, and a few months later they met with Milton in the studio in Juiz da Fora (Minas Gerais) where he added his songs to "Bicho homem" and "Guerra e paz I". Another guest star at "Casa de Bituca" is the legendary Samba-Diva Alcione, which enhances the classic "Travessia" with a highly incisive-emotional performance. The repertoire selection of "Casa de Bituca" focuses on Milton's early phase, from the late 1960s to the mid 1980s, not least to the two "Clube da Esquina" albums of 1972 and 1978 To whom Milton confidently presented his Minas Gerais scene around musicians such as L? Borges, Toninho Horta and Beto Guedes. In addition, there are two self-compositions by Hamilton: the already mentioned instrumental "Guerra e paz I", as well as the song "Mar da Indiferen?a", together with his longtime companion Marcos Portinari, in which we hear Hamilton for the first time in his career as a singer. The shock of the song, which had meanwhile been world-famous, was triggered by a Syrian child drowned in the Mediterranean in 2015. With his deep melancholy, it closes the bow to the legendary recordings of the young Bituca.
