"Frost On Fiddles" is already the seventh studio album of the Finnish band Frigg. Eleven of the tracks on the CD are self-composed, while Chris Stout, the well-known violinist from the Shetland Islands, joined in. Friggs last long-player, the CD "Polka V", was voted Finnish Folk Album of the Year in 2012 and nominated for the prestigious Finnish Teosto Prize. The sound created with violins, viola, contrabass, guitar, mandolin, cister and bagpipes calls the band a Nordgrass. Among them are the Nordic Americana-Powerfolk, which takes up a variety of musical influences between Nashville and North Cape, Salzburg and Stornoway. The septet from Helsinki thrills both live and on his albums through a tremendously stirring energy, great humor and a virtuoso joy of playing. "Stormy, divine, mega" for example, the "SHZ" titled the concert critics for the opening concert of this year's Folk Baltica. No wonder that Frigg has been one of the best-known and most successful bands of the Scandinavian folk scene for 15 years with performances all over the world.
