Founded in 1988, the first official album of the German gothic rock band The Cascades was released in 2001 with the title Nine66, followed by three more long players (Corrosive Mind Cage, Spells And Ceremonies, Dead Of Dawn), until 2006 with singer and band founder Markus Wild, who left the band afterwards. After another album (Something To Happen) with Ben Richter as singer it became quiet around the band. Now they are back with founding member Markus Wild on the microphone and present an impressive showcase of their work with two new songs, the best titles of the official albums and a special compilation of previously unreleased songs and demo versions on the double CD Diamonds And Rust. The band has not forgotten their craft, as evidenced by the brand new song Wenn der Regen kommt mit eing?ngtiges Gothic-Rock, embedded in a modern production. The band's musical spectrum is well represented by the song selection and even more evident when listening to the unpublished songs, which sometimes reveal a wonderfully raw gothic-punk origin (Why Should I Pray, Time Train). Thus Diamonds And Rust presents three epochs of the band's history. On the one hand, the time before the first official album between 1988 and 2001, then the official albums from 2001 onwards and a promising outlook on the future, because the band is already working on new songs, which are sure to be a perfect match for the catchy tune "Wenn der Regen kommt ank?pfen".
