A seamless combination of the bouncy girl group sounds of the '60s with timeless traditional country music, "Rule 62" continues Rose's string of outstanding country albums starting with her self-titled debut in 2012. Highlights for me are the lush '60s pop-country hybrids like "Better to My Baby," "You Don't Scare Me" and "You're a Mess," but I also enjoyed the more traditional country tunes like "I Don't Want Half (I Just Want Out)" and "Trucker's Funeral," which had a wistful "Gentle on My Mind" feel to it. Her "Heartbreaker of the Year" album is still my favorite of her releases, but "Rule 62" is a close second. Just an all-around excellent effort.
