The Medieval Piper "is a fascinating journey back in time into the life of a whistler in the Middle Ages. Silke Gwendolyn Schulze, the German specialist for medieval instruments, plays music from the 12th to 14th century. On the album, the multi-instrumentalist plays various flutes and double recorders, triangles, Tabor drums, shawms and dulcians. The sources were the medieval song collections "Manuscrit du Roi","Chansonnier de Valli?re" and "Cantigas de Santa Maria". The album contains works by Hildegard von Bingen, Guillaume de Machaut, Jehan Erart, Guiraut Riquier, Alfonso el Sabio and many more.
