Suzan K?cher's music could be called psychedelized folk rock with one leg in the 60s and one leg in the here and now. Their melody-inspired songs sound like Dusty Springfield, Serge Gainsbourg and Joni Mitchell were left behind in the French cellar studio of the Rolling Stones to write the soundtrack for a Tarantino film that will be released decades later. Yes, Suzan Quiver sounds like a timebubble in its own right. It combines the abyss of a Nico with a warmth that never leaves you in despair despite all the sung mischief. Her melancholic singing sounds both mysterious and comforting at the same time, while her songs rise up from their own very own crazy world of thought as if they had always been there, without getting blindly lost in traditions. Suzan K?cher's debut album "Moon Bordeaux", which will be released on Unique Records (Believe Digital/Rough Trade/Groove Attack) in October 2017, is a fascinating parallel universe that offers a first insight into the singer, guitarist and songwriter's creative power. Carried by her wonderfully unagitated voice, the twelve songs radiate a brittle shine that has not been heard for a long time. Bedded on rumbling drums, a melodious beat bass and tender to bristly twang-, fuzz and acoustic guitars, the dark baroque Mellotron orchestration floats, giving the songs a wonderful width. Every now and then an analog old-fashioned synthesizer twitches, here and there a harmonium whimpers. But Suzan Quiver doesn't hide her personality behind elaborate arrangements or a flattering stage name - her music and words feed on a wealth of inspiration and ideas, and all references sound as if they were her own. And to put this convincingly into words is ultimately impossible. In April, the first EP "Blood Red Wine" was released as an appetizer in the form of a coloured "10", which was launched with the album "Moon Bordeaux" for a full-blown musical feast.
