ALESSANDRINI,RINALDO - Bach - Variations On Variations (Sealed) (CD)

For "Variations on Variations", Rinaldo Alessandrini arranged pieces based on variations that Bach had originally composed for harpsichord and organ, for small string formations ranging from duo to quartet: the Goldberg Variations BWV 988, the Passacaglia in D minor BWV 582, the Canzona in D minor 588 and the Aria variata alla. The result is a completely new listening experience for these polyphonic works, whose lines are wonderfully emphasized by the warm string timbre without losing their contrapuntal unity. Alessandrini remains as close as possible to the spirit of the original and to the practice of writing instrumental music at that time - a loving obeisance to Bach's extraordinary inventiveness, which was recorded in the church of San Francesco in Trevi in May 2017.
