Fats Domino was born as Antoine Domino on 26.02.1928 in New Orleans. In 1949 he was discovered by Dave Bartholomew in a club where he played the piano for a few dollars. Bartholomew arranged Domino a first record deal. His first recording "The Fat Man" was a huge success and reached the second place of the R & B charts in the U. S. A.. The great international breakthrough came in 1955 with the title "Ain't It A Shame" and finally a year later with "Blueberry Hill", which became the biggest hit of his career. The 50's were his most successful time with many more hits like "Whole Lotta Lovin'","I'm Walking","Blue Monday" and "I'm Walking To New Orleans". With the advent of beat and rock music from the mid-1960s onwards, the success of his records diminished. As a live artist, however, Fats Domino was in demand for decades to come and was often a guest on stages in the U. S. A. and also in Europe. Fats Domino was founded in 1986 in the "Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame" and stands in a row with the music legends Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. A few years ago, Fats Domino withdrew into his private life and lives in his hometown of New Orleans.
