They're back in the lane, digging through the dirt. The blues rockers HOT' n' NASTY from Dortmund present "Dirt", the sequel to their 2012 album "Boost". Apparently, the boys have overcome the tragic death of their singer Patrick Pfau and found a more than adequate successor with their "new" Robert Collins and his striking rubbing iron voice. Since mastermind Malte Triebsch relies conceptually on continuity of sound, you don't have to get used to it, because the grain of Collins' sand paper voice is exactly the amount of dirt that best serves the band's wide-ranging bluesrock cosmos. In terms of sound and production, HOT' n' NASTY once again put their trust in the experienced Martin Meinsch?fer (Henrik Freischlader, Tommy Schneller, Layla Zoe) and his now established Megaphon Studio. The fact that the winners of the German Rock and Pop Award for the best Rhythm & Blues (2009) have not forgotten anything and are still willing to live their musical dream of earning the well-deserved recognition of a hard and passionately working rock band is demonstrated by pioneering titles such as Back On Track and Somewhere Somehow Someday, which glorify touring life and the sheer desire to make music. Guitarist Malte Triebsch and his experienced cronies continue to focus on variability and stimulate almost all the stylistic branches of blues rock, while with the Pat Travers-style, furious Take A Ride and the slow blues It's Only Money, which are reminiscent of Gary Moore, they are heading for real highlights, which the dynamic and closely meshed band structure and the fiery Sa In addition to all the thrilling full steam rock attitude, the Dortmunder show their romantic side in the bittersweet ballad Almost Like You're Here, add a little electric piano and work like a refreshing mix of Henrik Freischlader and Chris Stapleton. A mid-tempo heavyweight like So Much Better Than This could well be imagined in the repertoire of Scottish genre giants KING KING, while the mysteriously meandering Wah-Wah Blues from Land Of Thousand Lies seems to be caught somewhere between Robin Trower and SUPERSONIC BLUES MACHINE. With "Dirt" HOT' n' NASTY have recorded a worthy sequel to their 2012 work "Boost". A multi-faceted and hearty blues rock album of pure water. Great class. They will soon be demonstrating their willingness to plough the asphalt with numerous live dates (see tour dates). A recommendation to all genre fans.
