Joey Alexander is an Indonesian jazz pianist. He is considered a musical prodigy. Born in 2003, he learned to play the piano at the age of 6. At the age of 11 he released his debut album "My Favorite Things" and immediately landed in the American Billboard-Charts. Wynton Marsalis invited him to a concert in the USA, and thanks to an article in the New York Times, he became a sensation overnight. Subsequently, Barack Obama asked him to give a concert at the White House. Now, at the age of 14, Joey Alexander takes on his musical role model Thelonious Monk. Joey Alexander explains:"From Monk I have learned everything from Monk to leave the groove, spaces, to appreciate simplicity, to be sometimes mysterious, but most of all to experience his music full of joy". Joey Alexander has recorded seven cover versions live. He finds his very own interpretation and treats the originals with great respect.
