Those who get to grips with this debut album of the Koch-Marshall Trio will be disillusioned with two common misconceptions: On the one hand, with regard to the assumption that there are no more inspiring contemporary guitarists to be rediscovered. And on the other hand, bands in trio have to play guitar, bass and drums in order to burn off a musical firework display. With a Hammond organ on board, it works at least as well - as shown when US guitarist Greg Koch, his son Dylan Koch (drums) and Toby Lee Marshall (Hammond B3) start together. On "Toby Arrives" they celebrate over rock, blues, jazz and funk an eight track long parforceride, which has it in itself. What they do sounds familiar and excitingly different at the same time. Toby Arrives "will be released on 23 February 2018 as CD, digital and LP in heavy 180-gram vinyl with enclosed download code. This record is the second release on the still young Mascot label The Players Club. Talking about guitarist Greg Koch, the adjective "new" does not really apply. The 51-year-old from Milwaukee has been well known in the scene for many years. Koch is regarded as a master of the telecaster and extremely active Fender brand ambassador, he is a sought-after studio musician and successful author. Many of his guitar instructional videos are available on the internet and have been downloaded more than 50 million times. As an active musician, Koch inspires with his finest expression and unbeatable wit, especially on stage. He effortlessly manages the balancing act between Yankee Doodle and Led Zeppelin riffs - probably that's why superstar Joe Bonamassa described him as "terrifyingly good". Greg Koch has been making records since the early 1990s, with 13 albums to date. His breakthrough came in 2001 with "The Grip", released on Steve Vais label Favored Nations. His fellow musicians changed during this time again and again. At first he recorded with the group Greg Koch & the Tone Controls ("Greg Koch and the Tone Controls", 1993,"Double The Gristle", 1997), later alone, followed by records with Roger Powell ("Fossil Poets", 2006), Malford Milligan ("Nation Sack", 2009) and later many others. Colleagues such as Robben Ford and Joe Bonamassa are also welcome guests in his productions.
