This recording is a live recording of the long-time band "Black Mud Sound" of the pianist and composer Cornelius Claudio Kreusch from the Blue Note in New York City. The repertoire consists of compositions of the albums "Black Mud Sound" ("What?","Way Out","Nubian Queen") and "Scoop" ("Faith","Feel!") and already announces the pianist's later African band phase:"Fo Doumbe?". On vocals the incomparable Cheryl "Pepsii" Riley, a voice with the power of a Whitney Houston and the lethargy of an Erykah Badu. Improvisatorically a phenomenon, the singer uses her voice like an instrument. The funky bass man Dave Jones always gives the deep foundation virtuosically and reminds of the greats of his instrument. And funky "Drumette" Lady Camille Gainer burns the house down! No wonder Prince called her! Steinway artist Cornelius Claudio Kreusch also plays Minimoog and Fender Rhodes on this recording and takes the funky keys to heart. Sometimes you'd think Richard Tee would sit at the keyboards or George Clinton would wait for his performance with the band behind the stage, and Macy Gray would pass me by. An incredible live album from the centre of New York, the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club in West Village. The music like the city, funky, jazzy, wild and yet with feeling.
