The pieces on From A To Beginning always represent his personal mastery, the attention to detail and the invested time can be heard clearly. And the great panorama of sounds and ideas has always been one of his strengths - unbelievable, but what an effect this has now, where it gets so much space. Each piece has its own instrumentation, but the many details are never an end in themselves, the song always stays with itself. On this weird and trenchant planet McEwan you just want to let time pass you by. Not all is lost here. Here it is warm, intimate and comforting, often funny and loud.
