THE BEST OF STRAY CATS TV PERFORMANCES With their infectious blend of driving 1950s rockabilly and contemporary punk attitude, the Stray Cats took the world by storm throughout the 1980s, spearheading the decade’s revival in the process. Although helped along the way by a string of superb albums - including Stray Cats, Built For Speed and Rant ‘N Rave With The Stray Cats - it was their reputation as a dynamic live act that caught the attention of audiences across the globe. As a result, it’s no surprise that they made numerous appearances on national television, particularly in the United States. This collection brings together the very best of these TV transmissions, recorded at various junctures across their career. The set begins in 1981, with a selection from the Stray Cats performance on Fridays – a show considered the main competitor to Saturday Night Live –before continuing with the band’s performance at that year’s American Music Awards. These are followed by several tracks recorded at the famous Roxy nightclub in 1982 and 1983, broken up by three cuts from the ’83 US Festival. The closing numbers on this collectionare made up from two appearances after their initial reunion: first on the Beach Boys’ Endless Summer program in 1989, and finally a performance on The Late Show with David Letterman in 1990. Featuring a wide array of hits from their back catalogue, this selection of rare live recordings will be a welcome addition to the collectionsof any Stray Cats fan
