In 1973 Richard Pinhas was 22 years old and shortly before completing his PhD in philosophy. His first teaching assignment at the Sorbonne was already in his pocket when he sent a demo tape to the British label E. G., where King Crimson and Roxy Music were also under contract. There they were interested, but wanted to wait another year for the release. Pinhas had no patience for that. So he founded his own label, named himself Heldon and in 1974 he released "Electronique Guerilla", not only his debut album, but probably also the first self-published rock album of France. Although he had to market "Electronique Guerilla" in self-distribution - and often enough delivered the records to the shops by his own hand - soon over 19,000 copies of the psychedelic symbiosis of the sounds of a 1954 Gibson Les Paul and those of an EMS Synthi AKS were sold. Pinhas is solely responsible for the majority of the album, only for "Ouais, Marchais, Mieux Qu' en 68" he brought on board five of his collaborators, including one of his supporters, the philosophy professor Gilles Deleuze. He recites from Friedrich Nietzsche's "Der Wanderer und seine Schatten" (The Wanderer and his Shadow) to squiggly guitar sounds.
