The Black Hearted Riders are a seven-piece band blending blues, rock, folk into a unique sound, sitting somewhere between Wovenhand & Johnny Cash. James Ray first came to prominence in 1986 as the vocalist for Sisters Of Mercy side project The Sisterhood, described by the Melody Maker as - "Making Leonard Cohen sound like Paul Daniels". The following year he released the dance floor hit "Texas". James then took to touring around Europe with his then band James Rays Gangwar, releasing three LPs in the 90's. Joining James Ray is Justin Greaves, multi-instrumentalist of the internationally acclaimed post-rock band, Crippled Black Phoenix. Also John e.Vistic, the raucous Antipodean Bristolian guitarist, a towering figure on the live scene in London & Bristol.
