Willy Vlautin's fifth book "Don't Skip Out On Me" is about Horace Hopper, a half-indian, half-irish ranch worker who finds his destiny in boxing in the streets of Las Vegas. But Vlautin is not only a US-American writer, meanwhile translated into various languages, but also songwriter, singer and guitarist of the country band Richmond Fontaine. And because writing and making music are two sides of the same coin at Vlautin, he sometimes also produces his own soundtracks for his books. This happened in 2008 when he recorded 13 melancholic instrumentals with his band mate Paul Brainard for his second novel "Northline". The soundtrack was included with the first release of the book as a CD. The same goes for "Don't Skip Out On Me". With two exceptions: All members of Richmond Fontaine were present at the recording.
