Crush - probably the worst kept secret in the field of tension between Shoegaze, Indierock and Dreampop, which Austria has to offer at the moment. Just two compact short formats were enough to position Crush - Christina Lessiak, Christian Lach, Katrin Borecky, Florian Kolar and Verena Borecky - in this way. Damaged Goods (2016) and No Easy Way (2017) dropped a good half a dozen catchy tunes that cannot be killed. Under the production direction of all-rounder Wolfgang M?stl (Mile Me Deaf, Melt Downer, Sex Jams - and pretty much everything else that has a place in the Austrian indie scene), Crush's first longplayer, which will be released in April 2018 via Numavi Records, has now been released in just ten days. The debut album "Sugarcoat" continues exactly where the two EPs already unfolded their addictive potential, but also impressively demonstrates the strengths of the band: The 10 songs flirt with poisonous dissonance and caress graceful harmonies, put wave-heavy synthie clouds full of nostalgic melancholy over postpunk guitar attacks and cultivate a DIY attitude with a fine blade. After this piece of music at the latest it becomes clear: This is not only an entertaining crush - this should become a love for life.
