In 2007, the Zapico brothers created "Concerto Zapico", their most personal project. Through it, they shaped a long-awaited aspiration: to be able to make chamber music together. The problem was that none of the three of them played any melodic instruments, but rather oliphonic, ideal for the repertoire for solo or continuo bass, i.e. the harmonic accompaniment of the melody. But playing together? In order to shape it, they decided to take on the task of transcribing themselves a selection of Italian and Spanish dances from the 17th and 18th centuries, creating a unique and personal language. Their first record in this format, "Concerto Zapico", was released with great success in 2010 for the record label Winter & Winter, for which they are currently exclusive artists. The transcriptions alternated harmonic and rhythmic filling with solo singable parts for each one of the three instruments. A new language for a unique instrument configuration. After "Concerto Zapico" came "Opera Zapico", in which they demonstrated that it also worked in what way! - his transcriptions of arias and instrumental parts of opera, from Monteverdi to Mozart. Great orchestral scores reduced to three single instruments; and without voice. A practice, yes. common good at the time, nothing explored today by almost no interpreter. After more than a hundred concerts around the world with this program, the original selection entered of dances by " dancersConcerto Zapico"was evolving in such a way that eight years later it has already emerged a new corpus of works with its own entity that shapes the content of tonight's programme. It is a question of ".Concerto Zapico Vol. 2"a whole journey through the dance music of the 17th and 18th centuries, with its an extra maturity, control of language, colors and timbre possibilities of his instruments.
