Half Waif is a synth-pop side project by Nandi Rose Plunkett with her colleagues Zack Levine and Adan Carlo from the indie/old country band Pinegrove from New Jersey. As the daughter of an Indian mother and an American father, with roots in Ireland and Switzerland, she was influenced by artists such as Joni Mitchell, Toris Amo, Loreena McKennitt or traditional Indian folk songs. When Plunkett studied classical singing, she was fascinated by Olivier Messiaen and Claude Debussy. Half Waif would be in good company on a stage alongside Julia Holter or Lydia Ainsworth. The new album was co-produced and mixed by David Tolomei (Beach House, Dirty Projectors).
