Bendik Hofseth is finally back with his sixth long player for brilliant reviews. «Atonement» is this "Week's album" at NPS. How can we travel after falling? Can something that is corrupted be repaired? How do we establish trust after being betrayed? Can we regain faith after the doubt has caused us to wake up? How can we experience reconciliation after loss? This is the theme of the songs on Bendik Hofseth's new album "Atonement". Atonement may be best translated into Norwegian as reconciliation or the process of being left alive after being split. In the Christian sense, the word acceptance of the doctrine suggests that Jesus took on our sins to free us and it is in this landscape the music moves on this release. The music is a message that it is possible to experience a whole despite fragmented and contradictory information, despite the fact that life is against us. The music is a representation of the long lines of a life where pain can nourish deeper joy and where loss can create new space for other encounters and constellations. The music can tame opposites and they are sucked in and included in one that goes up anyway. It becomes a bonfire where both musicians and listeners can warm up and get an impression, and where anyone who wants to hit a bun or two.
