The wide ranging musical genius of the man known simply as 'Q' has encompassed much more than being the producer of iconic albums such as Michael Jackson's Thriller. Jones has seen major success and influence as a composer and an arranger of jazz, blues, gospel, soul and classical music for more than 60 years. The two albums presented here, 'The Quintessence' and 'Big Band Bossa Nova', showcase the superlative versatility, creativity and joy which Jones commanded when producing, composing and arranging music. Four additional tracks are included as bonuses. 1961's 'The Quintessence' features saxophonist Phil Woods and trumpeter Clark Terry, among others. 'Soul Bossa Nova' which Jones has said he composed in 20 minutes, has been used in many film and TV soundtracks, perhaps most famously as the theme song for the Austin Powers movies.
