Alex Maas (THE BLACK ANGELS), Tom Furse (THE HORRORS), Rishi Dhir (ELEPHANT STONE) and John-Mark Lapham (THE EARLIES) are the protagonists behind MIEN. The seeds for this collaboration were sown back in 2004 when Rishi Dhir accidentally met BLACK ANGELS frontman Alex Maas when he was performing with his former band SITAR at an SXSW show in Austin with THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSAKER. Not long after that Rishi also stumbled over electronic guru and producer John Mark Lapham from the Anglo-American band THE EARLIES, because of a common preference for one song: the classic sitar banger, Wantin' Ain't Gettin[1] by THE ASSOCIATION. A few years later, another part of the puzzle was added when Dhir played bass at BLACK ANGELS in 2012 and the band played together with THE HORRORS several times. So he met Tom Furse - another pact for cooperation was made. The result of the collaboration is now complete;"Mien" has become an album that transcends the origins of the quartet, desiring to explore the outside world as a closed unit. John Mark's vision is to achieve this: imagine the BLACK ANGELS as NICO in their' 80s industrial phase, mixed with GEORGE HARRISON and CONNY PLANK." A truly fascinating performance. Mien" offers space for radiant groove and ambient dreamscapes alike - a dark, hallucinogenic journey accompanied by outstanding songwriting acumen.
