Like so many other prominent musicians, actors and composers, Serge Gainsbourg had himself immortalised in Studio Harcourt Paris, founded in 1934 by Cosette Harcourt and the brothers Lacroix and Robert Ricci, with one of those timelessly elegant black and white portraits for which the photo studio is famous. From Edith Piaf and Brigitte Bardot to Halle Berry and Cate Blanchett to Salvador Dal? and John Galliano - they were all customers at the legendary Harcourt. In collaboration with the Wagram label, the Paris-based company launched the "Harcourt Edition", an exclusive compilation series dedicated to France's most famous singers. And Gainsbourg (1928-91) undoubtedly belongs to these! He influenced chanson and the pop music of his home country like hardly any other countryman. The compilation appears on white vinyl and contains remastered evergreens of the ingenious singer/songwriter. The cover is decorated with a Harcourt portrait taken at a young age.
